EMERGENCY RESPONSE NEEDED
22 million people already face severe food insecurity. 3 million children are malnourished. In addition to the devastating earthquakes that struck in October 2023, Afghans have now been hit with flash floods. The dire situation is getting worse.
On Friday, May 10th, an Afghanistan flood disaster killed more than 300 in the worst-hit northern province of Baghlan. Over 1000 homes have been destroyed, displacing thousands of people displaced. This has been one of many torrential floods over the last few weeks due to an increase in heavy rainfall.
The flooding has also destroyed hundreds of acres of agricultural land. Hundreds of men, women and children are still missing, likely trapped under debris. It is estimated that over 4000 people require emergency shelter and basic necessities to survive.
There is a dire need for emergency humanitarian aid to help our Afghan Ummah. They’re fighting for their lives.
